Local Area and Activities
You will never be short of things to do whatever the weather at
Plas Gower. Apart from the enjoyment of the peaceful location and
views, the use of our lovely garden and adjoining field, you will
find many activities and pursuits in the locality.
This part of Snowdonia with its undulating hills and mountain peaks
is a walkers paradise. Surrounding the property are the Arrans and
the forest. The forestry tracks and roads provide the opportunity
for exploration on foot or by road. There are some remarkable views
and fabulous countryside with lakes and streams at every point.
Within 100 yards of the property you will find the Llangower Halt.
The Bala Lake Railway running along the site of the former track
to the coast runs several times a day throughout the year and apart
from the pleasure of riding in the train and hearing it "toot"
past the property provides a useful connection to Bala.
Further afield you could try your hand at white water rafting at
one of the few centres in the U.K. Its base is about five miles
away and is popular with canooists too.
Or, why not try a visit to the market town of Dolgellau about twenty
minutes away or the pleasure beach at Barmouth. In the opposite
direction there is plenty of interest at Llangollen, Corwen and
Wrexham about one hour's drive from Bala. Whatever interests you,
you can be sure that on a wet or sunny day you will be spoilt for
choice. Full details of all the local attractions can be found on
local websites and you will find a visitors book at the property
with full details.
